1762年創業、今日まで稼働し続けるノルウェー最古のメーカーHadeland（ハーデラン）のガラス工場兼複合施設は、オスロ市街から北に向かって車で約1時間のJevnaker（イェヴナーケル）という町にあります。創業当初は薬瓶など実用的なガラス製品を生産していましたが、1850年代からクリスタルガラスの花器や食器も生産するようになり、大きく発展しました。1928年にSverre Pedersen（スヴェレ・ペダーセン）がアートディレクターに就いて以降、Willy Johnasen（ウィリー・ヨハンセン）、Arne Jon Jutrem（アルネ・ヨン・ユートレム）、Severin Brorby（セヴェリン・ブロービュ）といった名だたるデザイナーたちが活躍。数々の賞を受賞し、国際的なガラスメーカーとして認知されるようになりました。1930-60年代には、ノルウェー照明の最大のメーカーのうちの一つとなり、国内外からオーダーを受けました。
2019年から照明部門を本格的に再稼働させ、今日、ミッドセンチュリーにデザインされたモデルの復刻から新たなデザインの照明まで積極的に生産しています。2022年に創業260年を迎えたHadelandは、アートガラス照明メーカーの世界的なリーディングカンパニーの一つとなり、家庭用の照明、アートガラス、その他ガラス製品の生産に加え、オーダーメイドのプロジェクトも手掛けています。オスロのオペラハウスに飾られているシャンデリアは、ノルウェーの建築グループSnøhetta（スノーヘッタ）と共同制作によるものです。
The factory of Hadeland, Norway's oldest industrial company founded in 1762, is located in Jevnaker which is one hour north from Oslo by car. Initially production consisted practical glass such as chemists' jars, and the company developed with the production of smaller crystal items including dishes and vases from 1850s. Sverre Pedersen was inaugurated as an art director in 1928, and other notable designers such as Willy Johnasen, Arne Jon Jutrem, and Severin Brorby were active to win many awards. From the 1930s to the 1960s, Hadeland was one of Norway's largest suppliers of lighting, with deliveries to many public and private buildings in Norway and abroad.
In 2019, Hadeland again decided to focus fully on lighting, and now produces from the mid-century models to the new lighting collections. As it enters its 260th year, Hadeland Glassverk is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of lights in artisan glass, handling bespoke projects as well as the production of the main portfolio of lights, art glass and other glass products. Norway’s largest crystal chandelier in the Norwegian Opera and Ballet, created in collaboration with Snøhetta architects.
